Wow I never post on here! I have been a tumbler stalking for almost a decade and have a great many artist and writers that I love on here! I’m hoping maybe this will find some people who want to commission some art. I am in a limbo period, having just moved out of my home country to study abroad for grad school, so I’m in between jobs at the moment and could use some extra cash. So if you want so cool art you can request the commission at

https://artistree.io/request/zwhiteart

There are several other commission types on that request page if your looking for something else, like PNG tuber images, character sheets, or even pet portraits!

You can check out most of my work on my Instagram @ z_white_art

Restored film of San Francisco’s Market Street version of a film shot on April 14, 1906, four days before the Great Earthquake, and the attempt to colorize and sharpen the video-converted film.

Oh wow that’s incredible

I love the guys at the end who are all like “Oh hey look, there’s a camera! Hello camera!”

I’ve seen these restored films going around, but without credit. The original 13-minute film is A Trip Down Market Street, which was shot and produced by the Miles Brothers. It was preserved in the Library of Congress and Prelinger Archives, and in 2018,  Adrianne Finelli scanned and uploaded the footage for the Internet Archive. Now in 2020, Denis Shiryaev restored, upscaled and colorized the film. Shiryaev’s channel has even more restored footage, so check it out if you’re interested.

Remember to source and credit works that are not your own and respect the process and people that gave us this literal glimpse back in time.

THANK YOU.

This is spectacular work.

an important thing to remember is that strikes are ultimately the result of the labour conditions imposed by the employers, not the workers. we can no more blame striking workers for the loss of services than we could blame them for stopping work during a fire, or a building collapse. the injury is carried out by the boss, the work stoppage is a result of it. if you are opposed to the negative consequences of an industry breaking down, remember that it’s the bosses who caused the catastrophe.

things i am learning now that i’m finally actually watching avatar the last air bender part one:

1) not everyone is a bender
2) it does appear to be inherent to some extent, because katara seems to be partially self-taught
3) however, there is a learning element, because you can improve on your skills and the avatar has to learn how to master all four elements where i thought aang just had inherent skill
4) the element of the bender seems to always match the element of the tribe they’re in, which makes sense if they are taught by their tribe but raises some questions if it’s inherent. is bending ability passed genetically? what happens if two benders of different elements have a kid? i can’t google this because i don’t want anymore spoilers than i already have
5) uncle iroh is prince zuko’s uncle?????????? i thought he was like an earth bender who owned a tea shop this entire fucking time how did i go into this series knowing almost everything but THAT

i honestly thought it was an honorary title like he’s a nice old man who helps out all the kids so he just has them call him uncle

Again: Piracy (ie. ROMs) is preservation. Piracy is archives. Piracy is art-affirming in a world which devalues and abandons art.https://t.co/4H2SbzpSaM — Srsly Wrong Podcast (@SrslyWrong) July 14, 2023ALT

I’m just gonna slide this on in here for anyone that is interested in preserving old games. They take it very seriously too, they want an archive of every single game. Like, they have lists of every game ever released for a system, and once that system gets old enough, they add it to their archive and start collecting. Their latest addition was the Xbox 360, they opened that vault up in September 2022, and proudly announced they’d finished their collection of games for it back in April.

Also, while their game archives are almost entirely complete, they’ve got another project of archiving the manuals that came with those games, and that is… considerably less well filled out. Their collection of Xbox 360 manuals is especially rough, they’ve only gotten manuals for three games. So if you’ve got some Xbox 360 games kicking around, and the manual’s still with them, please consider scanning them and submitting them to the site!

Game preservation is important, but people rarely consider preserving the manuals as well; I really respect Vimm’s Lair for being so thorough in their archival work.

Miles Morales animation test

The prompt was to show how Miles is more confident in his movements as Spider-Man. Joaquim had suggested a mixture of breakdancing, capoeira, and parkour.

I pitched Miles is more confident but also trying a little too hard.

hello yes im alive and still wild about this character. my friends keep encouraging me to be more selfindulgent with art and posting so: Vespertine.

An assassin turned knight of the future king after a job goes VERY wrong. Best friend material but stabs people. 8 feet tall with the appetite of a dragon.

I remember being in first grade and this white boy asked me why I wear “normal” clothes if I’m Indian and don’t Indians only wear feathers? So yes I do think first graders need more awareness about race

Also Sesame Street was made by a bunch of hippies that loved puppets and educators that were trying to reach in-city kids (particularly kids of color) who didn’t have access to good education resources.

Sesame Street has specifically addressed racism and other forms of socially oppressive orders since the beginning. Once again Rave Dubin is a moron.
